About Us

Tidworth Motors was created in 1973 when Terry Astin and Mick Sykes - both Mercedes Benz main agency trained technicians decided to join forces and use their wealth of knowledge and experience to work for themselves.

In 1984, Stephen Dickinson joined them as a mechanic.

1987 saw a move to the Railway Arches in Bow, East London (think Eastenders without the Mitchells!!).

Stephen became a Director in 1998 and Terry Vince expanded the team.

The year 2000 and a new millennium, Mick and Terry retired from Tidworth to pursue their many business interests and Stephen became Sole Director. This was a busy year as Stephen became a father to Molly.

In December 2001 Frankie was born adding to the Dickinson Dynasty.

September 2006 saw Steve's wife - Dawn come from out of the shadows, where she has been lurking comleting all the admin to the fore front of the business to head the reception and administration.

Terry Vince remains a valued part of our business and is now Head Technician, helping train our apprentices and using his many years of knowledge in the workshop.

We now employ a great team of technicians with a wealth of knowledge. Mick Sykes to this day offers his expertise in Classic and Older vehicles.

Due to our need for extra space we moved to Rainham, Essex in July 2008 where we have a large workshop and a comfortable reception for any waiting clients, where, if you are lucky you may get a cuppa!!!

As well as moving our business premises, 2008 was another busy year as Terry and his wife Kieley become parents for the first time to Oliver in November.

Stephen and Dawn value their customers and have built an impressive client list from the Professional and Celebrity to our very own Milkman!

Tidworth is very much a family run business and as your car is very much part of your family, it will be treated as part of ours too.

We have now been in Rainham for two years and its great! We are going from strength to strength - we have kept all our old clients and are getting new ones each week, which in this financial climate we are very grateful for!
