About Us

Tidworth Motors was created in 1973 when two Mercedes Benz main agency trained technicians decided to join forces and use their wealth of knowledge and experience to work for themselves..... Tidworth Motors was born and named after Tidworth Road in Bow.

In 1984, Stephen joined them as a mechanic.

1987 saw a move to the Railway Arches in Bow, East London (think Eastenders without the Mitchells!!).

In 1997 Stephen met Dawn, the love of his life and become a husband in 1998.

The year 2000 and a new millennium, both original partners retired from Tidworth to pursue their many business interests and Stephen became Sole Director. This was a busy year as Stephen also became a father to Molly.

In December 2001 Frankie was born, adding to the dynasty.

2006, and Scott joined us from school as an apprentice.

September 2006 saw Stephen's wife - Dawn come from out of the shadows where she has been lurking completing all the admin, to the fore front of the business to head the reception and administration.

We employ a great team of technicians with a wealth of knowledge. Scott has recently been promoted to Head Technician and Mick (one of the original owners) to this day offers his expertise in Classic and Older vehicles.

Due to our need for extra space we moved to Rainham, Essex in July 2008 where we have a large workshop and a comfortable reception for any waiting clients, where, if you are lucky you may get a cuppa and say hello to the dogs - Dolly - the miniature schnauzer, Lenny - the british bulldog, Paddy the miniature dachshund and last but not least Ernie the bordere terrierwho are usually in the office with Dawn.

Steve and Dawn's daughter, Molly helps out with admin along with her studies.

Scott became a father to Ronnie in 2016....

In 2016, Bradley joined us as an apprectice.

Another son for Scott came along in 2019 in the shape of a very cute Lennie (no he wasn't named are Steve and Dawn's dog...... well we think anyway! lol) and finally wedding bells are on the cards as Scott proposed to Terri, his partner in 2020 although we are still waiting for a date!

Bradley finished his training in 2020 and is still with the Tidworth family. On hot days you may find him with his top off (think a skinny Brad Pitt lol).........

2022 and the Tidworth family expanded again with our son Frankie coming to work with us.

Stephen and Dawn value their customers and have built an impressive client list from the Professional and Celebrity to our very own Milkman and Ice Cream Man!

Tidworth is very much a family run business and as your car is very much part of your family, it will be treated as part of ours too.

We are now established in Rainham and are going from strength to strength - we have kept all our old clients and are getting new ones week by week, mostly by word of mouth which proves we are good at what we do. We are honest and reliable - exactly what you are looking for in a garage.
